Counselling is most effective when it takes place within a trusting relationship. To ensure that the client feels that they can talk openly and freely with their counsellor issues of confidentiality are discussed at the first meeting. Typically there are several areas that need particular consideration when talking about confidentiality and these are to do with child protection and self harm issues.
As a professional counsellor I receive regular supervision for my work. I may discuss the process of our work together with my supervisor, but never in such a way that you will be personally identified or identifiable.
